Work Anywhere: Keeping up with 21st Century Demand

Modified on

Technology has provided the opportunity to reach colleagues and be reached wherever we may be,having both positive and negative effects on employees. It can increase productivity but, also increase stress. There is no hiding from a deadline in the 21st century.

So, how do you ensure you’re not caught in a tight spot if out of the office. Perhaps a line of code is out of place, or there are a few little tweaks to make before tomorrow’s deadline. In the past, it would have to “Wait until Monday,” but now with the opportunities allowed through technology, you can fix an issue, even from the other side of the world.

ACCESS ANYWHERE

Services such as the cloud and other external storage products allow you to access your work from anywhere in the world. For most, lugging a laptop around with you will do the trick. But for those with desktop PCs, this is not an option.

The ability to remotely access your work from anywhere in the world means that there is no stress involved if you need to make some last-minute changes to a final project. For more advanced users, the ability to remotely operate your PC is another solution to getting caught out when out of the office.

CHARGE CHARGE CHARGE

You’ve been there, we all have. Despite believing a 60% charge will be sufficient to get yourself through the day it never is. There is no accounting for what issues might arise towards the end of work, so it is integral to have a source of power on hand should the battery be running low.

Finding a local coffee shop where you can charge your smartphones and computers is one way of staying ahead of a dying battery. The use of a powerbank is another solution, should you find yourself in transit without a plug socket in sight.

Keep connected

Gone are the days of requiring constant wired connection to get stuff done. The 21st Century professional demands the ability to be able to connect anywhere they need. For this, local areas, such as cafes or parks can offer often-free (you might have to buy a coffee or two) wi-fi services to help you complete your work wherever you need.

Furthermore, a decent data plan can also prove to be a huge timesaver. Particularly for those who need a quick and reliable connection but are stuck between the office and the comforts of home without having time to search for a quick pit-stop.

It used to be that the end of the day meant the end of the day. That is no longer the case. Technology has opened whole avenues of shortcuts for the modern professional to keep up with work wherever you may be. You can add finishing touches to projects or double check strings of information at just the tap of a screen from the comfort of your bed or anywhere, really.
