Tips On Making Your Work Set-Up More Ergonomic

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few years, you will have heard about the term ‘ergonomics’ in regards to our work and office set-ups. This is all about designing a workspace so that it suits you and the tasks you are carrying out, benefiting your health in the process. With that being said, read on to discover some useful tips on making your work set-up more ergonomic.

Set a timer on your phone for regular eye breaks – Set an alarm on your phone or computer that goes off every 20 minutes to remind you to look away from the screen for a while. Of course, you shouldn’t set a loud ringtone that is going to drive the rest of the office crazy. Choose something that will notify you without causing disruption to everyone else. Changing focus is important so that your close-in focus muscles are able to relax.

Make the most of ergonomic accessories – Nowadays, you can get all sorts of ergonomic gadgets and accessories that can make your work life much easier. This includes a whole host of ergonomic mice. Look for the best left handed mouse or vertical mouse online – whatever you think will be best suited to your work and your desk set-up. You can also purchase ergonomic keyboards too.

Consider a sit-and-stand desk – Not only can you get ergonomic accessories, but there are some great desks available nowadays too. This includes the sit-and-stand desk, which does exactly what it says on the tin: enables you to either sit and work or stand and work. This adjustable desk is a great way to ensure you do not spend the full day sitting on your bum!

Reduce repetitive movement – Repetitive strain injuries are common amongst office workers, which is why it is a good idea to look for ways to reduce repetitive movements in your daily work life. Changing tasks is one of the best ways to combat this. When this is not possible, you should make sure that you periodically change the neutral position that you use.

Proper display distance and height – Last but not least, you need to make sure that all display devices, such as your monitor, are placed at eye level. You should not need to squint your eyes or strain your neck in order to view a display. This is also why you need to make sure that you invest in an adjustable chair.

So there you have it: some helpful tips to make your work set-up more ergonomic. If you follow the advice that has been given above, you can make sure that your work set-up is ergonomic so that you can achieve more and stay healthy while at work.
